Ideas for those small business owners who hate having their picture taken!

With the firm belief that people do buy from people, showing up as your small business owner self in your brand photos can create some of the most favourite images that your customers love to see.  This post gives you some ideas on brand photography for the camera-shy small business owner? I’m happy to say there are still ways to enjoy being in your brand photos and to enjoy the whole brand photography experience.

I hear camera-shy small business owners say all the time that they dread being in their photos, but there are ways to get around this so that you can actually enjoy being in some of them.

Brand photography for the camera-shy small business owner doesn’t have to mean having none at all. Here are a few photo ideas to ensure you appear in some of your photos.

Brand photography for the camera-shy – photo idea 1 – ‘Doing what you love’.

If you run a small business, there’s a good chance you love what you do. Showing the process, the behind the scenes of your work, the love for what you do will shine through in your photos. You will feel comfortable surrounded by all your things, as well as never needing to pose or look at the camera.

Brand photography for the camera-shy – photo idea 2 – ‘Being with your customers’

A totally familiar setting with you concentrating on your customer and what you are doing rather than thinking about the camera. Capturing these photos will feel easy going and natural. These photos are actually brilliant for letting your customer imagine how it would be working with you.

Brand photography for the camera-shy – photo idea 3 – ‘Working at your desk or kitchen table’

People love to see where you work or how you work whether it’s the home office, kitchen table or garden studio. It gives them an insight on where they would find you. These photos help to get to know you more with no need to pose for the camera.

Final ‘feeling fine’ tips for the camera-shy

1. Dress so you won’t think about it. Using a few changes of outfits or tops with your brand colours in mind, think comfort and very ‘you’ clothes .

2. FInd a brand photographer who you feel comfortable with and will guide you along in a way that suits you.

3. Pick a location you feel ‘at home’ with or one that you have time to set up with all your familiar items so you can relax.

4. To start with, keep something in your hands that is work related.

5. Be honest with your photographer and you will find your way together to create the photos that truly reflect you and your business.
